Engr Michael Oluwagbemi, the programme director of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGi), has clarified misconceptions surrounding the pricing regime of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Nigeria. He emphasized that the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) will not constrain the use of other gases, such as LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), despite its affordability for various applications, including cooking, automotive, power generation, and agriculture.

Oluwagbemi made these statements on November 7, 2023, during the Conference and Exhibition organized by the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Association (NLPGA) at the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) towers in the vibrant atmosphere of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He assured Nigerians that the implementation of Compressed Natural Gas would promote the adoption of autogas, offer financing options, facilitate installations, and encourage investments from the extraction sites to filling stations.

The event organizers advocated for the removal of Value Added Tax (VAT) on LNG to enhance its penetration in the Nigerian market, meeting the rising demand for gas among the country’s population.

The conference was attended by prominent government dignitaries, highlighting the importance of the discussions on Nigeria’s natural gas sector.
