Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, said that the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program has received over one million applications, marking a key milestone. This tremendous response demonstrates the program’s extensive interest in providing technical training to millions of Nigerians.

Tijani further revealed that the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy is in the process of unveiling the next steps for the 3MTT program. He also shared insights into the comprehensive framework of the initiative, including the total number of trainees, providers, and partners involved.

The 3MTT program received a significant boost with a N1 billion funding commitment from IHS Telecom, which includes support for the salaries of learning community managers. This program holds a pivotal place in the Renewed Hope agenda, as it aims to cultivate Nigeria’s technical talent base, bolster its digital economy, and position the nation as a net exporter of talent.

The 3MTT initiative is structured to be executed in three phases, with the overarching objective of training three million Nigerians in technical skills over the next four years. The inaugural phase has already commenced, with collaborative efforts from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and participation from multiple stakeholders, including fellows, training providers, partners, and placement organizations. Selected individuals will receive training in specific skills, with the government covering the associated costs.
