The Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Olalekan Ifede, has announced the appointment of five zonal education secretaries to address vacancies resulting from the promotion of some secretaries to principal and vice-principal positions within secondary schools. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the TESCOM conference room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, and was considered a vital step to enhance management capacity and ensure equitable representation across the state’s zones.
Chairman Ifede charged the newly appointed secretaries with the responsibility of being diligent and viewing themselves as the commission’s representatives in their designated zones, considering the zonal offices as extensions of the chairman’s office within those zones. He highlighted their core duties, which involve overseeing all schools within their respective zones and providing regular, updated reports to the commission. The chairman encouraged them to establish a close working relationship with the previous Zonal Secretaries to gain a thorough understanding of the job requirements.
Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed secretaries, Mr. Habeeb Abdullah expressed gratitude to the commission for the opportunity to serve. He assured that they would perform their duties according to the commission’s expectations, contributing to the enhancement of educational activities across the state’s various zones.
In his remarks, Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, urged the new secretaries to maintain professionalism and diligence in fulfilling their responsibilities, emphasizing that their efforts would contribute to the advancement of education in the state.
