The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba has responded decisively to the case surrounding the tragic demise of hip hop artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The court has issued a series of rulings, dictating the legal status of the suspects involved.
Firstly, the court ordered that Fisayo Ogedengbe, a 37-year-old auxiliary nurse who had been apprehended by the police on allegations of administering injections that reportedly led to Mohbad’s death, be returned to custody pending further legal proceedings.
Furthermore, Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun has determined that Ayobani Sadiq, a friend of Mohbad and also a suspect in the case, should be remanded in police custody as investigations continue.
In contrast, Naira Marley, whose real name is Azeez Fashola, and Lagos socialite Sam Larry, known as Balogun Eletu, were implicated in connection with Mohbad’s death and had been in police custody since October 6. However, the court has granted them bail, each with a financial bond set at N20 million. The conditions for their release mandate three reliable sureties providing the same amount, with one of them being a property owner. Additionally, Naira Marley and Sam Larry are required to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
The magistrate, in a firm directive, emphasized that no direct contact should be made with her regarding the case, warning that any such attempts could be documented and brought into open court proceedings.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death remains ongoing, and the court has scheduled the next hearing for November 29, awaiting further guidance from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
