During an intimate conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, actress Beverly Osu delved into her past, recounting the pivotal moment when her parents’ separation led to her and her siblings having to make a life-altering choice. This choice would influence her upbringing and ultimately her perspective on relationships.

Beverly vividly recalled the moment when her parents split, and she and her brothers had to decide which parent to stay with. Young Beverly initially chose to be with her father, but he insisted that she go with her mother, promising to visit them regularly. Despite being just a short distance away, her father’s visits never materialized, leaving her and her brothers feeling abandoned.

She recounted, “Since we were leaving, my mother asked, ‘Who’s going with daddy and who’s going with me?’ and I chose to go with my dad, but my dad was like, ‘No, go to your mum. I will come and visit you.’ My dad was literally in Surulere while we were in Ojuelegba, and he never really came over. My brothers never really forgave my dad.”

Growing up in a household dominated by her brothers, Beverly emphasized that any man she dated had to possess a strong sense of self-confidence to fit into her world. She found herself drawn to older men but clarified that this preference wasn’t necessarily rooted in the absence of her father’s presence. She stated, “Do I have daddy issues? I don’t think I have daddy issues, but I’ve always dated men way older than me, and these older men were not involved with other women. I don’t want to be another woman’s sadness.”

Beverly also pointed out that while she prefers older partners, she doesn’t feel the need to be in a relationship. She expressed contentment with being independent and embracing her own identity.

Beverly Osu’s candid reflections provide insights into her life, her relationships, and her journey toward self-assured independence.
