Peter Obi, in a press conference held in Abuja on Monday, emphasized that his vision for a new Nigeria remains undeterred despite the Supreme Court’s verdict on October 26, 2023, affirming President Bola Tinubu’s electoral victory.
Obi addressed his supporters, affectionately known as the ‘Obidients,’ acknowledging the end of the legal battle following his initial disagreement with the Supreme Court’s judgment. He recognized that a destination is not a singular event but rather a continuous journey. While he did not explicitly declare his candidacy for the 2027 presidential elections, he made it clear that the conclusion of this legal battle does not mark the end of his pursuit for a transformed Nigeria.
Expressing his gratitude to Nigerian youths and the Obidient movement for their energy and dedication, Peter Obi stated, “I want to assure them that this is not the end of our journey but, in fact, the beginning. Nigerians heard you, the world has taken note, and we will not forget easily. We shall endure, persist until we reach our destination because a new Nigeria is our destination. A destination is not an event.”
Peter Obi’s remarks reflect his unwavering commitment to the ideals of a reformed and progressive Nigeria, indicating that he remains resolute in his efforts to contribute to the nation’s development and transformation, even beyond the recent Supreme Court ruling.
