The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has sent a strong warning, stating that time is running out, to criminal groups, especially terrorists and bandits who are causing unrest throughout the nation.
The DHQ expressed its satisfaction with the recent achievements of the military in thwarting criminal activities in numerous operations conducted over the past week. Speaking on behalf of the Defence, Major-General Edward Buba conveyed this strong message in a statement released in Abuja.
Major-General Buba emphasized that unless the terrorists willingly surrender, the fight against them will persist relentlessly. He stated, “The military will continue to thwart the ambitions of terrorists, insurgents, and violent extremists, preventing them from achieving their self-serving objectives. The battle is ongoing, and the clock is ticking for them, unless they choose to surrender.”
During these operations, the military exhibited its determination and resolve. A total of 67 terrorists were neutralized, 190 were apprehended, and 47 kidnapped hostages were successfully rescued. These numbers underscore the commitment of the military to combat the menace of criminal elements and protect the safety and security of the nation’s citizens.
The Defence Headquarters has made it abundantly clear that there is no room for complacency in the fight against terrorism and other forms of criminality.
