Israel’s military forces engaged in a fierce battle with Hamas overnight, targeting approximately 300 sites. The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has firmly rejected the idea of a ceasefire, considering it a surrender to Palestinian militant groups.
The Israeli army stated that its soldiers have been actively combatting terrorists while coordinating real-time airstrikes on various targets and terrorist infrastructure. These airstrikes hit a range of locations, including missile and rocket launch sites, as well as military compounds concealed within underground tunnels associated with the Hamas terrorist organization.
This escalation of hostilities follows Prime Minister Netanyahu’s dismissal of a call for a sustained humanitarian truce made by 120 countries. He declared that Israel would not agree to a ceasefire and vowed to continue fighting until they achieve victory. Netanyahu emphasized that calls for a ceasefire are, in his view, tantamount to Israel surrendering to Hamas.
Israeli officials have reported that Hamas-led raids have resulted in an estimated 1,400 people being affected, along with the destruction of homes, farms, and villages, which ultimately led to the commencement of the conflict on October 7.
The past three weeks have witnessed extensive and continuous Israeli aerial bombardments, coupled with a significant ground offensive within Gaza. Witnesses observed numerous Israeli tanks operating in the southern outskirts of Gaza City, while images of mechanized units advancing through the coastal sands in northern Gaza were released by the Israeli military.
