Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and former Governor Nyesom Wike, both prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), convened at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

The two politicians were observed exchanging pleasantries with a handshake upon their meeting.

This gathering took place in the wake of impeachment proceedings initiated against Governor Fubara by the Rivers State House of Assembly on the previous day.

Fubara and Wike, who served as the immediate-past governor of Rivers State, appeared to have visited the Villa for a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council, a constitutional body responsible for overseeing the organization and administration of the Nigeria Police Force. The Council is presided over by President Bola Tinubu.

The Nigeria Police Council is composed of the governors of each state in the Federation, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, and the Inspector-General of Police. This meeting signified a crucial interaction among key stakeholders.
