In a press conference held in Abuja on Monday, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, expressed his concerns about the recent Supreme Court judgment that affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory. Atiku contended that it was not he but Nigeria that suffered the most significant setback as a result of the ruling.

Atiku emphasized that the Supreme Court’s ruling seemingly sends a message that criminal actions can be rewarded, a notion he found deeply troubling. He stated, “The bigger loss is not mine but for Nigeria. If the Supreme Court implies that crime is good and should be rewarded, then Nigeria has lost, and the country is doomed irrespective of who occupies the office,” highlighting his deep-rooted concern for the nation’s integrity and rule of law.

In his address, Atiku accused both the Supreme Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of allegedly supporting activities such as illegality, identity theft, impersonation, forgery of certificates, and perjury. These accusations further underscore his apprehensions about the state of affairs in the country’s electoral and legal systems.
