President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed the verdict of the Justice John I. Okoro-led Panel of the Supreme Court on the Presidential Election petitions filed by the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP). These petitions had challenged the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
In a statement he personally signed on Thursday, the president expressed his satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s judgment, stating that it reflects a profound commitment to justice and the rule of law without any fear or favor. Tinubu commended the diligent and professional approach taken by the honorable justices who presided over the matter. He emphasized that this decision further cements Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence and constitutional democracy in the national identity.
He reiterated his unshaken faith in Nigeria’s judiciary and its unwavering commitment to administering justice impartially and without bias. Despite the pressures and attempts at intimidation by some political actors, the judiciary, once again, demonstrated its unequivocal commitment to upholding the rule of law and the defense of humanity.
With the Supreme Court’s ruling, President Tinubu emphasized that his party, the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), has been affirmed as the rightful winner of the 2023 Presidential election. He accepted the judicial victory with a deep sense of responsibility and an unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges facing the nation.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to the “Renewed Hope” agenda for a greater and prosperous Nigeria. He pledged to work tirelessly to meet the yearnings and aspirations of all Nigerians, maintaining a deep sense of responsibility and dedication to the nation’s progress.
The President concluded his message with immense gratitude to all Nigerians for the mandate to serve the country. He promised to exceed expectations in service delivery and good governance, working collaboratively with his team and trusting in the grace of God.
