The Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his victory at the Supreme Court.
In a statement signed by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, Dr. Edu hailed the Supreme Court’s affirmation of the President’s election as a just and fitting revalidation of the overwhelming choice made by millions of Nigerians on February 25th of the same year.
According to the Minister, “The will of the Nigerian people was unmistakable on the day of the election. President Tinubu was their chosen leader, and they voted for him in massive numbers. He secured a clear mandate, and the Supreme Court has now reaffirmed that choice. The apex court has simply reasserted the decision Nigerians made eight months ago.”
Dr. Edu went on to commend the Supreme Court Justices for their role in upholding the integrity of democracy. She expressed her belief that the judiciary serves as a pillar of democracy’s stability.
She stated, “I have no doubt that the judiciary is a crucial element in upholding democracy, and this has been demonstrated once more through the confirmation of Mr. President’s election.”
The Minister called on the key litigants, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), to collaborate with the President in advancing the nation.
“Now that the Supreme Court has conclusively addressed all matters related to the 2023 presidential election, I appeal to the two primary litigants to join hands with Mr. President in the nation’s progress. Mr. President has a well-defined roadmap based on the Renewed Hope Agenda to place our country on an irreversible path of progress. Politics has ended; it is governance that now holds paramount importance. Let’s make Nigeria work!”
Dr. Edu concluded by offering her congratulations to President Tinubu on this well-deserved victory on behalf of the staff and management of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
