The former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdurasheed Bawa, has been released from detention.
Bawa was arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) on June 14, 2023, just hours after his suspension from the position of EFCC Chairman by President Bola Tinubu, who cited alleged abuse of office as the reason.
Throughout his period of arrest and detention, the Department of State Service did not formally levy any charges against him or specify his alleged offenses. However, on Wednesday night, Abdurasheed Bawa was released from detention.
