The Supreme Court in Abuja was notably without the presence of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, as the court prepared to deliver its judgment on Thursday.

These appeals had been lodged in response to the tribunal’s judgment, which had affirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election held on February 25, 2023.

In the absence of the two prominent appellants, the courtroom saw the presence of other notable figures, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure.

As the Supreme Court gears up to deliver its verdict, all eyes are on the outcome of these appeals, which carry significant implications for the country’s political landscape.
