President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action by ordering the immediate execution of fiscal policy and tax reforms recommendations outlined in a report designed to achieve ‘quick-win’ objectives.
The announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, during a press briefing in Abuja, following a meeting between the committee and the President.
In a proactive move earlier in July, President Tinubu authorized the formation of a Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms and appointed Taiwo Oyedele as its chairman. This committee’s establishment underscores President Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to addressing challenges and ushering in transformative reforms in fiscal policy and taxation.
The committee’s core mission, as articulated by the Nigerian government, is to enhance the efficiency of revenue collection, ensure transparent reporting, and promote the effective utilization of tax and other revenues to bolster citizens’ tax morale, encourage a robust tax culture, and drive voluntary compliance.
