Ondo State Deputy Governor Challenges Assembly’s Request for Probe

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has responded to the recent move by the State House of Assembly by urging the Chief Judge of the state, Olusola Odusola, to disregard the Assembly’s request to form a seven-man panel to investigate allegations of gross misconduct against him.

In a detailed seven-page letter presented to the Chief Judge on Tuesday and subsequently shared with the media, Aiyedatiwa’s legal representative, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, articulated the Deputy Governor’s stance.

This development follows the Assembly’s recent communication to the Chief Judge, asking him to establish a seven-man panel to investigate the Deputy Governor. The Assembly contended that the injunctions granted by the Federal High Court in Abuja had expired.

In the letter submitted on October 24, 2023, Aiyedatiwa, through his lawyer, questioned the Assembly’s position, which he perceived as being grounded in conjectures, misconceptions, inconsistencies, undue desperation, and a misinterpretation of the law.

He argued that the orders issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 26, 2023, were still in effect and remained valid and operational. This position directly contradicted the Assembly’s assertion that the orders had lapsed due to the operation of the law.
