The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal brought forth by the Allied Peoples Movement, which aimed to nullify the election of President Tinubu. The party contended that the replacement of the placeholder nominated by President Tinubu, Ibrahim Masari, did not occur within the 14-day window mandated by Section 33 of the Electoral Act.
During the hearing held on Monday, the lead counsel representing the Allied Peoples Movement, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume, clarified the basis of their appeal, asserting that it was not founded on allegations of double nomination. Instead, Ume staunchly argued that the nomination of Vice President Kashim Shettima was conducted in violation of the law.
