Ondo Lawmakers Consider Political Solution to Deputy Governor’s Dispute

The Ondo State House of Assembly has expressed its willingness to explore a political solution to the ongoing dispute with Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

This proposition comes with the condition that Mr. Aiyedatiwa withdraws the legal cases he filed against the assembly in both federal and state high courts last month.

The dispute between the assembly and the Deputy Governor began when proceedings for his removal over allegations of gross misconduct were initiated.

The root cause of this discord is linked to a rift between Mr. Aiyedatiwa and associates of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who recently returned from a three-month medical leave in Germany. Despite his return, Governor Akeredolu has not resumed his duties, sparking concerns about his health and readiness to govern the state effectively.

This potential political solution comes as the All Progressives Congress (APC) intervenes in the ongoing crisis within the Ondo State chapter. The APC has set up a reconciliation committee led by former Katsina governor, Aminu Masari, to address the issues and seek an amicable resolution.
