In response to the fuel scarcity issue, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a stable fuel supply for Nigerians. The state-owned oil company acknowledged the challenges faced in recent days, particularly in Lagos, due to reduced depot loadout in Apapa, Lagos. However, the NNPC has taken steps to address these issues, aiming to normalize the fuel distribution process.

“We assure all Nigerians that there is ample supply with sufficiency of at least 30 days,” declared NNPC in a statement, underscoring their dedication to meeting the nation’s fuel demands. NNPC’s downstream subsidiary, NNPC Retail Ltd., acknowledged the presence of fuel queues in some parts of Lagos and other areas nationwide. Still, they urged motorists not to engage in panic buying, assuring that the fuel distribution would return to normal in the coming days.

The statement emphasized that the current scarcity resulted from a temporary reduction in depot loadout in Apapa, which has already been resolved. NNPC further assured the public that efforts are underway to prevent any future disruptions in the fuel supply chain.
