Bandits have reportedly abducted more than 50 individuals, among them Hussaini Sarkin-Gabas, a district head, during a violent attack on Bagega village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Reports indicate that the armed bandits launched their attack on the village on motorbikes, instigating a wave of violence that involved sporadic gunfire and the burning of houses. Tragically, the attack has claimed the lives of three individuals.

Bello Yahaya, a son of the abducted district head, revealed that two police officers were among the casualties of the attack. Additionally, seven people have sustained injuries in the incident.

According to Yahaya, “The injured officers, along with seven other individuals who suffered various degrees of gunshot wounds, are currently receiving medical treatment at a local facility.” Furthermore, two victims with critical injuries have been referred to the Federal Medical Center in Gusau for further medical care.

While seeking comments on the distressing situation, Yazid Abubakar, the spokesperson of the Zamfara police command, indicated that he had not yet received specific information regarding the attack but promised to provide details once available.

The incident in Bagega village comes on the heels of a bandit attack in September on the Federal University of Gusau (FUG) in Zamfara, which led to the abduction of several students from the institution.
