A violent fight between the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Amotekun, Operation Burst, Soludero, and a group of herders happened on Monday in Iwerele, Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, generating widespread terror and several casualties.

The cause of this confrontation remains shrouded in uncertainty, but a prominent community Chief confirmed its occurrence.

According to a local source, the conflict began when a group of herdsmen encroached on a local farm with their cattle, leading to a heated argument that tragically resulted in the death of the farm owner. Subsequently, in an effort to restore peace, security forces, including Operation Burst, OPC, Amotekun, and Soludero, were deployed to the area. However, reports indicate that they may have been ambushed by the herdsmen, leading to additional casualties. The precise number of casualties is still undetermined.

Efforts to elicit a response from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were unfruitful as calls and text messages to his mobile number went unanswered.

As more information becomes available, further details regarding this unfortunate incident will be provided.
