Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has commended the recent verdict by the Court of Appeal that led to the removal of Elisha Abbo from his position as the Senator representing Adamawa North in the National Assembly. Governor Fintiri described the court’s decision as a victory for the people’s will.
In an official statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor expressed his satisfaction with the verdict. Elisha Abbo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was officially removed from his Senate seat by the Appeal Court in Abuja on Monday.
The judgment was delivered by a three-member panel of the Appeal Court, presided over by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme. The court additionally ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), acknowledging him as the duly elected representative for the Adamawa North area in the National Assembly.
Governor Fintiri hailed the decision as a reflection of the people’s will, which was expressed through their votes at the polling units. He also congratulated Yohanna on his electoral victory.
The governor emphasized that the Court’s verdict has significantly bolstered confidence in the Nigerian judicial system and reinforced hope for the continued growth of democracy in the country.
