The Nigerian Air Force conducted an air strike operation against terrorists in Bukar Meram, Borno State, in response to rebels’ evolving tactics.
The operation resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of a significant number of their assets, including over 40 motorcycles and six armored trucks.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, released a statement on Sunday confirming the success of the mission. According to him, the decision to launch these air interdiction missions was prompted by intelligence reports indicating the relocation of terrorists from Suwa to the Bukar Meram region, near Lake Chad.
The Nigerian Air Force recognized the urgency of the situation as it appeared that these terrorists had relocated with the likely intent of planning and executing further attacks on ground troops and innocent civilians.
