The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported a tragic auto accident that resulted in the instant death of three individuals, involving a commercial bus and a truck. The incident occurred near the Charlie Boy bus stop in Gbagada.

In a statement released by the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, it was revealed that the distress call was received at 22:01hrs through LASEMA’s toll-free lines. In response, the Lagos State Emergency Response Plans were activated, with the agency’s teams arriving at the scene by 22:17hrs.

The bus, with registration number JJJ-844YA, was fully loaded with 18 passengers and was en route from Oshodi to Ajah when the accident occurred. The bus lost control while in motion and rear-ended a moving truck, tragically claiming the lives of three passengers, two males, and one female, who were all adults.

The other passengers in the bus sustained varying degrees of injuries and were attended to by the LASEMA paramedics. Of the seven injured individuals, three received prompt pre-hospital care and were transported to Gbagada General Hospital for further treatment.

The statement confirmed that the three deceased persons had been properly handled and were awaiting the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) to convey them to the morgue. Additionally, a Light Tow Truck was dispatched to remove the affected vehicles from the road to prevent secondary incidents.

The incident received a coordinated response from various agencies, including the LASEMA Response Team, LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Team, Nigeria Police, and Lagos Fire and Rescue Services.
