The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, shared insights into his decision to work alongside President Bola Tinubu, despite his affiliation with the opposition party. In a news conference held in Abuja on Friday, Wike, a former two-term governor of Rivers State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), praised President Tinubu for his ability to make bold decisions and tackle challenges that others may shy away from.

Wike underscored the importance of leadership in addressing the country’s pressing issues. He expressed his belief that leadership is a significant factor in tackling complex problems, especially when many individuals are hesitant to take decisive actions for fear of causing displeasure.

“One of the reasons I accepted to work with Mr. President is because he has the capacity and political will to do those things that people are afraid of doing,” Wike noted.

He acknowledged that in leadership, it is impossible to take actions that please everyone. However, he emphasized that the fundamental aspects are adhering to the law and acting in line with one’s conscience.

Discussing the positive changes brought about by President Tinubu in the FCT’s civil service, Wike highlighted the ongoing reforms that aim to enhance and modernize the territory’s administration. Under President Tinubu’s leadership, these reforms have been initiated to improve efficiency, transparency, and public service delivery.
