The camp of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has officially lodged a complaint against the British Broadcasting Commission (BBC) concerning a report that delved into the authenticity of President Bola Tinubu’s college certificate.

The report in question, titled “Bola Tinubu diploma: No evidence Nigeria’s president forged college record,” has ignited a fervent debate regarding its impartiality and fairness. The controversy centers around the authenticity of the certificate submitted by President Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The BBC report stated that there was no concrete evidence to support claims of forgery concerning Tinubu’s educational credentials. Nonetheless, Atiku’s camp vehemently argues that the report exhibited a bias in favor of President Tinubu.

During an exclusive interview on Channels TV’s Politics, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, unveiled the complaint and criticized the report’s credibility.

“When they said a report by the BBC, I laughed at the level of pedestrianism. The three young people who wrote that report are not even in the employment of the BBC. They are just like a fact-checking team,” Shaibu pointed out.

Shaibu went on to assert that one of the report’s authors, Olaronke Alo, had connections with President Tinubu, revealing, “As of 2019, he was a reporter and presenter at TVC, owned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Additionally, Shaibu disputed the report’s claim that Atiku’s media team failed to respond to BBC’s inquiries, insisting that this assertion was inaccurate.
