Senate President Godswill Akpabio has faced criticism from Senator Ali Ndume and others in the Senate for the swift passage of bills without proper notification and member contributions.

During a video from Thursday’s session, Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South district and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed his concerns about the pace at which bills were being passed without prior reading and input from members.

Ndume stated, “You are just passing bills without prior notification, including money bills, you just pass bills within 2 hours without anyone’s contribution. This is not good for Nigeria.”

Senator Ogoshi Onawo, representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, also criticized the rapid passage of important bills and expressed his concerns about the impact on the country. He said, “Sir, you are on the seat today, history is going to judge you that things like this are not good for this country.”

In response to the criticisms, Senate President Akpabio defended his actions, emphasizing that bills passed by the Senate were in the best interest of Nigerians. He stated, “If the bills we are passing are good for the country, history will judge me right. I don’t think we would come here to pass a bill that’s not good for the interest of Nigerians. So, your point of order is noted.”
