Operation Whirl Stroke Arrests 26 Suspected Criminals, Illegal Oil Bunkerers in Abuja

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) reported that troops from “Operation Whirl Stroke” have successfully apprehended 26 individuals believed to be involved in criminal activities and illegal oil bunkering in the Gwagwalada and Abuja Municipal Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

 

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, shared this information while providing an update on the recent operations carried out by the troops across the nation in the past week.

 

According to General Buba, between October 4 and October 5, 2023, the operation’s troops conducted a series of operations that led to the arrest of 26 suspects engaged in criminal activities related to illegal oil bunkering within the two areas of Gwagwalada and the Abuja Municipal Area Councils.

 

In one of these operations, troops from Operation Whirl Stroke conducted a raid and apprehended individuals suspected of engaging in acts of terrorism in the Takum local government area of Taraba State. During this operation on October 4, 2023, two terrorists were successfully apprehended.

 

Additionally, the troops carried out fighting patrols in Logo Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State on October 3, 2023, in response to information regarding a potential attack by suspected armed herders. Although no contact was made with the armed herders, the troops explored the general area and rescued an individual who had sustained a gunshot wound. The wounded victim was promptly evacuated to a medical facility for necessary medical attention.
