The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PICNG) Steering Committee has named Zacch A. Adedeji, Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), as its head. This is a noteworthy move. Developing plans to expedite the execution of directives pertaining to the CNG Initiative falls within the purview of this group.
One of the key objectives of the Steering Committee is to drive the development and promotion of natural gas as an alternative fuel source, aligning with the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the Nigerian population.
Several distinguished individuals have been named as members of this committee. Mrs. Olu Verheijen, who serves as the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Energy, is among the prominent figures. Additionally, Engr. Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), is a vital contributor to the committee’s efforts. Dr. Armstrong Takang, the Managing Director of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), is another key member.
Further bolstering the committee’s expertise, Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye, who holds the position of Executive Vice President of Gas, Power, and New Energy at NNPC Limited, will play a crucial role. Mr. Toyin Subair, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Domestic), and Mrs. Denike Laoye, complete the esteemed roster of committee members.
