The Nigerian Senate has demanded a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate murder of Greatness Olorunfemi, who was a victim of notorious “one-chance” operators in Abuja.

Olorunfemi, a dedicated community developer and member of the Young African Leaders Initiative Network (YALI), passed away at Maitama General Hospital under distressing circumstances. Allegedly, she was denied medical treatment because she could not provide a police report. Her ordeal began on September 26, 2023, when she was forcefully ejected from a speeding vehicle on the Maitama-Kubwa highway by ‘one-chance’ operators, who had reportedly robbed her during the incident.

Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, representing Cross River South, introduced the motion in the Senate, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive inquiry into this tragic event. The Senate’s decision includes summoning key officials to provide insights and answers regarding the case.

Among those summoned are the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Ministers of Health and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ali Pate and Nyesom Wike, respectively.
