The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reported on Monday that it successfully neutralized numerous Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists through targeted air strikes in the Tumbuns, located on the edges of Lake Chad in Borno State.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, released a statement in Abuja, revealing that the air strikes effectively obliterated terrorists’ hideouts, dismantled their structures, and eradicated a strategic logistics base in the region.

The operations specifically targeted Tumbun Fulani and Tumbun Shitu between September 27 and September 30, responding to confirmed terrorist activities posing a threat to military installations and law-abiding residents in those areas.

At Tumbun Fulani, the NAF observed terrorists loading jerricans onto two concealed gun trucks under shrubs. Subsequently, NAF aircraft were deployed to intercept the location, believed to be a major logistics base. Following the strike, a Battle Damage Assessment disclosed the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of the gun trucks.

Similar precision strikes were executed at Tumbun Shitu after identifying structures believed to be terrorists’ hideouts concealed beneath thick foliage. Three gun trucks transporting terrorists were sighted moving into the location, prompting the necessary action to neutralize the threat. The aftermath of the air strike revealed the elimination of several terrorists and the destruction of the trucks.

The commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to significantly curtail terrorist activities in the Northeast and other regions of Nigeria remains steadfast
