In a recent address at The Covenant Nation’s national development fair, known as The Platform, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, and the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr. Bosun Tijani, underscored the pivotal role of robust institutions and investments in manpower for building a prosperous nation. The duo emphasized that the youth of the country constitute its most valuable asset.
Oyedele, while cautioning those contemplating leaving Nigeria, urged them not to harbor ill wishes for those choosing to remain. Stressing the importance of strong institutions and investments in human resources, he emphasized that governments at all levels must prioritize these aspects to foster national development.
Advocating for the creation of a conducive business environment, Oyedele suggested that this approach would mitigate the desire of people to emigrate. He stated, “There is nothing wrong in leaving, don’t get me wrong. But if you leave, don’t wish the rest of us bad.”
Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity of not harboring ill intentions toward the nation, whether one decides to stay or leave, asserting, “Even if you are planning to leave, just remember, there are 95 per cent of us who cannot go anywhere.”
Emphasizing the importance of patriotism, Oyedele argued that foreign intervention alone cannot spur Nigeria’s development. He asserted, “All the countries that were developed were developed by their people.”
