The 2024 university rankings by Times Higher Education have unveiled the leading institutions in Nigeria, with Covenant University, the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), and the University of Ibadan (UI) emerging as the top-ranking universities in the nation.
In an impressive feat, Covenant University, a private institution, has secured a place among the top 1,000 universities in the world, a testament to its dedication to academic excellence and research endeavors. Globally, Covenant University proudly occupies the 801-1000 range, solidifying its position as a significant player on the international academic stage.
Taking the top spot in Nigeria, Covenant University’s achievement is a remarkable milestone for private education in the country. It signifies the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering an environment conducive to research and innovation.
Following closely behind, the University of Ibadan claims the second position in the national rankings. This prestigious institution has a longstanding reputation for academic excellence and research contributions, maintaining its standing as a leading Nigerian university.
Securing the third position is the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). FUTA’s presence among the top-ranked universities reflects its commitment to technological advancements and academic growth, making it a significant player in Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
The University of Lagos and the University of Bayero in Kano emerge as the fourth and fifth top-ranking universities in Nigeria, respectively.
