Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has strongly criticized those pressuring Omowunmi, the wife of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to undergo a DNA test to confirm her son’s paternity.
The controversy erupted when self-proclaimed investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo made unfounded allegations that Mohbad’s son was fathered by Lagos Socialite, Sam Larry. Since then, some Nigerians have persisted in urging the singer’s widow to conduct a DNA test on their five-month-old child.
A Nigerian businessman, Larry Omodia, even pledged N10 million to support Mohbad’s widow in covering the expenses of the DNA test if she agreed to it.
Taking to her Instagram page to react, Iyabo Ojo condemned the calls for a DNA test, describing them as a distraction from the pursuit of justice for the late Mohbad.
Iyabo Ojo emphasized that the public does not have the authority to demand a DNA test, and she pointed out that the late singer never questioned the paternity of the child.
The renowned actress urged critics to stop bullying Omowunmi and emphasized that if the security officers investigating Mohbad’s death believe a DNA test is necessary, they will proceed accordingly.
In her statement, Iyabo Ojo defended Omowunmi’s right to privacy and called for empathy and restraint during this challenging period for the grieving widow. She stressed the importance of allowing due process to take its course in the pursuit of justice for Mohbad.
