In a relentless pursuit to dismantle the operations of IPOB/ESN terrorists and safeguard the lives of innocent citizens, Nigerian Airforce fighter aircraft executed precise airstrikes, obliterating two notorious terrorist hideouts in Anambra and Imo States on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

A press release issued by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, disclosed that these strategic strikes were meticulously planned and executed based on credible intelligence.

The statement emphasized, “In an unwavering commitment to thwart their malevolent activities and protect law-abiding Nigerians, aircraft under the Air Component of Operation Udo Ka II launched a series of airstrikes on September 26, 2023, targeting IPOB/ESN strongholds. The first strike occurred at Mother Valley Orsumughu in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, while the second strike was carried out at Aku Ihube in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.”

The outcome of these strikes proved highly effective and successful in achieving their objectives. The decision to authorize these airstrikes stemmed from credible intelligence indicating that IPOB/ESN terrorists were plotting to disrupt civic activities in Anambra State and other Southeastern States from their concealed bunkers at Mother Valley Orsumughu. Air raids, conducted in collaboration with ground troops and other security agencies, targeted the location suspected to house weapons and ammunition. The strikes, marked by fiery explosions and fleeing terrorists, left no room for doubt about their success.

Additionally, airstrikes were coordinated with surface forces to eliminate IPOB/ESN hideout camps in Aku Ihube, Imo State. This operation followed an in-depth analysis of intelligence that revealed the terrorists’ converging plans at this location. The strikes were executed with remarkable precision, delivering a resounding blow to the terrorist hideout.

The statement concluded with a strong commitment, asserting, “The Nigerian Airforce, alongside other security agencies, remains steadfast in ensuring the safety and freedom of all Nigerians, regardless of their place of residence. Efforts to combat threats and protect the lives of innocent citizens will persist.”
