Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have resolved their differences and are set to jointly announce a statewide indefinite strike at 3 p.m. today. This move comes in response to the Federal Government’s failure to address the suffering and socioeconomic hardships faced by Nigerians, particularly workers, due to the removal of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
Earlier this month, the NLC conducted a two-day warning strike between September 5 and 6, 2023, to draw attention to the plight of Nigerians. At that time, the TUC did not participate in the strike due to disagreements between the two labor unions.
However, following productive discussions and the resolution of their disputes, the NLC and TUC will hold a joint press conference today to formally announce an indefinite nationwide strike.
