The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Jos, has delivered its verdict, affirming the election victory of Caleb Mutfwang, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the Governor of Plateau State. This ruling effectively dismisses the petition filed by Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Caleb Mutfwang as the winner of the poll after he garnered 525,299 votes, securing his victory over Yiltwatda, who received 481,370 votes during the March 18 election.

This tribunal decision comes after an earlier petition filed by Alfred Dabwan, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), was also dismissed. Dabwan had approached the tribunal seeking the nullification of the election results, citing the alleged exclusion of his party’s logo on the ballot by INEC.
