Abdulahi Umar Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), chaired the launching of the APC Campaign Council for the upcoming Imo Governorship Election on November 11, 2023. Thousands of party supporters packed Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri for the celebration, which was characterised by passion and party spirit.

Addressing thousands of party supporters at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri, Ganduje said the party brought the ceremony to Imo state where the election would take place because his administration decided to change the narrative of doing it at the national headquarters.

He was accompanied by a message of goodwill from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who hailed Governor Hope Uzodimma as “an intelligent and workaholic governor who cooperates with the federal government.”

He promised Imolites that he would create a supportive environment to ensure the party’s victory in the November election as a result.

In response to the inauguration, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, who is the chairman of the Imo APC Campaign Council, expressed his gratitude for the responsibility entrusted to him. He appealed to the people of Imo to prioritize peace, as it would pave the way for infrastructural development and increased federal presence in the state. Governor Otu specifically mentioned projects like the dredging of Oguta Lake and the establishment of a Naval base as examples of what could be achieved in a peaceful environment.

Along with Governor Otu, co-chairs are the Governor of Ebonyi State, H.E Rt. Hon Francis Nwifuru and the Minister of Science and Technology, Hon. Uche Nnaji.

Other members include the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, former Minister for Science and Technology, H.E Dr. Ogbonaya Onu among others.
