President Bola Tinubu has approved the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Dr. Cardoso is poised to assume this critical role for an initial term of five (5) years, pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
This directive is in accordance with Section 8 (1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, which empowers the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to appoint the CBN Governor and four (4) Deputy Governors, subject to the Senate’s confirmation.
In addition to the nomination of Dr. Cardoso, President Tinubu has also announced the nomination of four new Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), each designated for an initial term of five (5) years, awaiting confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. The nominees for the role of Deputy Governors are as follows:

Dr. Bala M. Bello
