Supplementary Election set to take place in Eti-Osa as Tribunal Nullifies Thaddeus Attah of LP Victory

The court has been at their busy period as regards election petition to help restore sanity and transperancy in Nigeria Electoral process. This is definitely a good way for the judicial system as it promotes fairness, equality and justice.

Following the reinstatement of Natasha Hadiza Akpoti as the winner of Kogi Central Senatorial Election, the Lagos Tribunal in Ikeja has removed Attah and ordered INEC to conduct a supplementary election in 32 polling units of Eti-Osa within 90 days.

Prior to this judgement, the PDP and APC refused to accept the announcement of results and have since then began the legal action to ensure the choice of the people were made.

The Tribunal have given Inec the order to withdraw the return certificate issued and conduct elections in areas where election didn’t hold on Election Day

Attah victory is at stake as he goes on a rerun to reclaim his position or otherwise get defeated, just some months ago he won his contenders, Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) – PDP, who had 18,666 votes, Babajide Obanikoro – APC, who had 16,901, Oladehin Olufemi – ADC, who had 1,422 votes, Azeez Kabirat – NNPP, who had 414 votes and Olasunkanmi Ololade – SDP, who had 207 votes.

Ibrahim Obanikoro who came third in the election under the APC has expressed is satisfaction as he made a statement on his Instagram story that, “The Feb 25 election has just been rightly declared inconclusive and supplementary elections have been ordered by the court. INEC has been ordered to withdraw the return certificate and conduct elections in areas where it didn’t hold on Election Day.”

 

Olubankole Wellington popularly known as BANKY W also wrote on his Twitter page, “It is possible. Still.” Remembering that he came second in the previous election, could this be the time. We hope and wish the best for all contenders in the rerun election.
