President Bola Tinubu on Saturday affirmed Nigeria’s willingness to play an important role within the G-20 and contribute to forging a more equitable global landscape.
To address critical concerns, he spoke at the 18th G-20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, India, emphasising the importance of global unity, cooperation, and the establishment of a better international order.
Tinubu emphasised the G-20’s pivotal role in shaping a rules-based world order that fosters shared prosperity and security, which are among many of today’s critical issues that require international collaboration in a statement signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
“Stronger collaboration, cooperation, and partnerships among diverse regions are the pathways to a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future for our world,” President Tinubu stated. “This is why the role and contributions of the G-20 in shaping a new world order that is fair and rules-based cannot be overemphasized.”
He emphasised the importance of cooperatively designing, owning, and managing such rules and global governance institutions in the spirit of unity, mutual respect, and sustainable development.
President Tinubu emphasised Nigeria’s ambition to be a prominent player in the G-20, emphasising the country’s commitment to establishing a new global order.
President Tinubu praised India for hosting the historic summit and its most recent success, the moon landing led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that this feat serves as an encouragement to all developing countries in the Global South.
On the issue of African Union (AU) inclusion in the G-20, President Tinubu welcomed the decision, emphasizing that it opens opportunities for future membership that reflects the balance of power and inclusiveness of humanity as one family.
