The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal ruled that the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, failed to explain how they obtained the majority of legitimate votes in the presidential election on February 25.

The political party made generic allegations of irregularities, suppression of votes, and corrupt practises to rob them of their votes, particularly in Rivers, Benue, Lagos, Taraba, Imo, and Osun states, according to the lead judgement read by Justice Abba Bello Mohammed, but failed to specify the polling units affected.
