President Bola Tinubu met with top security officials at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday to discuss the country’s security situation.
The meeting, which is held on a regular basis at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, was attended by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, his Navy counterpart, Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar.
The conference, which is normally held behind closed doors, usually informs the President about the general security situation in the country, including a review of areas where the service chiefs need to double their efforts as well as knot loose ends and close gaps.
Tinubu would later that day go to New Delhi, India, to attend the G-20 Leaders Summit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Later in the day, Tinubu would leave for the G20 Summit in New Delhi, India, an annual gathering of the world’s major economies to address critical global challenges. Given Nigeria’s numerous issues and the current state of global affairs, his participation in this summit has significant promise for boosting the country’s interests on the world stage.
The participation of key security officials, including the Inspector General of Police, Chief of Defence Staff, and Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), emphasizes the gravity and significance of these pre-departure meetings.
