Communities in the South East region are not cooperating with security agencies, according to the head of the Nigerian Civil Defence and Security Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

This lack of cooperation is hindering efforts to address the security challenges in the area, Audi emphasized during a meeting with the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee investigating incidents in Umunneochi Community, Abia State.

Audi, represented by Assistant Commandant General Philip Ayuba, highlighted the prevalence of weapons within the community and the unwillingness of residents to provide information or cooperate with law enforcement.

On a different note, governors in the South East region asserted that Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, is not responsible for the ongoing insecurity in the area. Instead, the governors identified criminals and their backers as the cause of the security issues.

The governors announced their intention to engage with the Federal Government to address the security challenges and expressed confidence in finding a lasting solution.

They also shared plans to collaborate with the government to manage the activities of Simeon Ekpa, the self-declared Prime Minister of Biafra based in Finland.

The governors, including Hope Uzodimma, Prof. Charles Soludo, Francis Nwifuru, Alex Otti, and Peter Mba, attended the meeting, where Chairman Uzodimma conveyed the resolutions, emphasizing the intent to organize a security and economic summit in the near future.
