Marcelo Bielsa Named New Uruguay Head Coach

The head coach position of the Uruguay national team has been filled by Marcelo Bielsa, the former manager of Leeds United.
The Argentine, who is 67 years old, had been without a job since being dismissed by Elland Road in February 2022.
Although he had been in negotiations with Bournemouth and Everton for their open managerial positions, Bielsa will now lead his country.
Uruguay, who have won the World Cup twice, failed to progress beyond the group stage in Qatar. Bielsa previously managed in several countries and was in charge of Chile for four years.
Interim head coach Marcelo Broli was in charge since February after Diego Alonso resigned following the World Cup.
Uruguay are currently ranked 16th in FIFA's world rankings.
Leeds fans still hold Bielsa in high regard after he helped lead the team back into the Premier League after an absence of 16 years.
