Gunmen Behead Imo Council Chair After Ransom Payment

The Sole Administrator of Ideato North Local Government of Imo State, Chris Ohizu, was on Sunday beheaded after the payment of N6 million demanded by his abductors.
Video of his beheading surfaced online on Sunday, where his killers insisted that there would be no election in the country.
An anonymous source from the local government disclosed that the killers of the sole administrator published videos of the beheading with the phone of their victim on his WhatsApp status.
Spokesman for the Imo State Police Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the video and said the police are currently investigating the matter.
Ohizu was kidnapped Thursday last week by unknown gunmen following an attack and burning of his house in Imoko town, Arondizuogu.
A source told reporters that the assailants shot Ohizu in the leg before trapping him and two others.
Two other people were killed and set on fire the same day in Imoko town of Arondizuogu district.
The attack comes less than a week following another attack on the Coalition of United Political Parties in Ugochinyere Imo where his house was razed alongside several vehicles and three people killed in his village, Akokwa also in Ideato North.
