The Police command in Cross River State have paraded 52-year-old Cyprian Mbe suspected to be involved in arms dealings.
Mbe, of Bashia Village in Boki Local Government Area, was interceptedd during a stop and search action by the Police Divisional Patrol team at the weekend with 299 live Cartridges hidden in a black bag in Etung local government area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Abdulkadir Jimoh, uring a chat with newsmen on Monday in Calabar, disclosed the suspect had been a long-time gun runner as well a promoter of native wars in Etung local government area where he was apprehended, and neighbouring local governments.
He said it took the efforts of the keen and observant Etung Division patrol team on routine stop and search to apprehend the suspect, adding he was arrested at Bendeghe in Etung council.
He clarified the police was still conducting preliminary investigations into the arrest for needed information on his dealings after which “he would be charged to court immediately."
