Social Media Trends for Wednesday 23rd September 2020

The Nigeria Incentive-based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), was on the trend as some Nigerians expressed ignorance over the disbursement of N3.5trn COVID-19 intervention loan.

They argued that adequate publicity was not done, hence majority of the people were not carried along.

On the contrary, many others said that NIRSAL did carried out enough publicization of the loan through various media, including social media platforms. They also called on beneficiaries to speak out, as this would be a testimony to those who otherwise doubted the existence of the scheme.

Nigerians have described the tanker explosion at Felele area of Lokoja as a terrible disaster.

Calling the incident a Black Wednesday, those who reacted on social media said that many people were feared dead including Kogi State Polytechnic students and some primary school pupils as the petrol tanker went up in flames in a traffic gridlock.

They also expressed their heartfelt sympathy to families and victims of the explosion.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps has put the death toll at 23.
