President Muhammadu Buhari has been commended for his commitment towards engendering a credible electoral process in the country, as demonstrated in the September 19 Governorship Election in Edo State.
Describing Saturday's election as the most credible, transparent and peaceful ever conducted in recent years, many Nigerians urged the President to maintain the trajectory, as he would bequeath a lasting legacy to the people in 2023 by ensuring that the people's will always prevail.
While congratulating Governor Godwin Obaseki for his re-election, they chided those who attributed the successful conduct of the poll to an earlier visa ban threatened by the United States Government against anyone who would interfere in the electoral process.
Emir of Zazzau
Nigerians have received with shock the news of the demise of His Highness, Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Idris, the Emir of Zazzau.
The Emir who had been on the throne for over 40 years, died today in Kaduna at the age of 84.
Those who reacted to the sad event, including prominent personalities, described the monarch's death as a great loss to the Zazzau Emirate and Nigeria as a whole.
They prayed Allah to grant his soul a peaceful repose.
