At least three people were killed and seven injured in a suicide attack in Maiduguri, northeastern Nigeria on Saturday, AbujaCityJournal learnt.
The bomber, a woman, targeted a crowded area in the town of Konduga in Borno State, according to a local government official.
Said he: “The bomber sneaked into the area and detonated her explosives. Three people died immediately,” the official who craved anonymity said.
It was the first such attack in some seven months in Konduga located just about 16 kilometers (10 miles) from a major base of the Boko Haram terror group.
Ahmadu Khali, a local security official, said the death figures would have been much higher had the bomber managed to move further into the crowded area.
Attempts to get the police officials response has been unsuccessful.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack blamed on Boko Haram by residents. The insurgent group has been responsible for multiple similar attacks in Nigeria.
